Stuck pixel due to driver?
I am the proud owner of a recently purchased T43 and have some weird issues. I have a stuck pixel that appears only sometimes. It's clearly not a hardware issue, but it is annoying nonetheless.
The pixel is near the center of my 1400x1050 screen. When I change the resolution to 1024x768, the stuck pixel moves down and too the right (i.e. so that is the same number of pixels away from the upper left corner). Also if I use a dead pixel test app, I can change the color of the pixel by making the whole screen white, black, red, green, yellow, blue, etc. I make the screen a color and then go back to the desktop and the pixel color becomes the same as the full screen test color.
The pixel isn't necessarily the same one and it sometimes moves around. Right now it is more towards the lower left.
I can't figure out what the problem is. The driver for the video card is the latest. Could my video hardware be bad?
Thanks.

I disabled my touchpad a few days after I received my T42 (I only like the TrackPoint). Some months later, someone in my family reactivated it. I was noticing strange lines and boxes appearing sometimes, then I realized the touchpad was reenabled. I disabled it and the line and box problem went away. I have a suspicion that if you choose to disable the touchpad, the stuck pixel you describe will no longer appear.

You say it's not always present. Does this pixel appear only when an internet accessable program is operating (browser, Office, etc)? I've heard of single pixel spyware that can track your software use and surfing. If it's present otherwise that would not be an issue. Just a thought.

It's not always present. Right now, I can't see it. When I do see it, I can change it's color with something like Dead Pixel Buddy.
I can't figure out when the pixel appears. It comes and goes, but I see to only notice it when websurfing or when playing a video. I haven't figured out how to reproduce it though.
I just got this laptop (2668-J1U), so I haven't even put a spyware detector on it. I'll try some of those too.

It still sounds like it could be that ultranav issue to me. Does it go away or change position if you use the edge-motion of the trackpad to scroll in a web browser?
