Buying information for T42 - newbie help.
I am looking to buy a T42 - 512 MB, 40+GB, CD/DVDRW - I can configure for about $1500 w/3 year warranty + office.
I have been looking at ebay and am amazed at the prices that are all over the place. Some I can figure out are due to refurb and MACK (?) warranty, but others are used w/warranty at <$1000.
My questions:
Is there a price that I should be suspicious of - too good to be true?
Has anyone heard of System Electronics - they have many around 1000 on buy-now at ebay.
Or, am I being stupid and I should take the deal that I can get (company perk), stop being so cheap and buy direct.
Any in put would be appreciated.

Bought my T42 on eBay. Came factory sealed and in brand new condition w/ warranty. You just have to look for a reputable seller and start asking questions. I can't tell you much about System Eletronics, I believed they are a 'powere seller'. You might want to find out what is their warranty on some of their refurbs. If you want ur notebook in days, then ebay is a good source. Other wise, order from Lenovo. However, they are experiencing shipping delay on some of their T series.

i got my t42p from an ebay seller, no major problems, though the screen could be in better condition. that not withstanding, i got an amazing price for what came with the machine. check the feedback from other buyers, but also be warry of anything with a MACK warranty, as it is not an IBM warranty. it largely depends on your seller and what you find. don't trust posts that say to contact the seller outside of ebay, and use pay-pal. other than that, happy bidding.

If you are going to buy a ThinkPad T42 from ebay, buy from a Powerseller only.
