Issue getting DVDs to play through TV

#1 Post by jbischke » Mon Oct 17, 2005 12:04 pm

Hey all. I spent a couple of hours last night trying to get my laptop to play DVDs through my television (hooked up with an S-video cable). I was able to figure out that I can do this through Presentation Director. At least I can get my TV to show what is on my laptop. The problem that I've having is that when I use FN + F7 to switch to showing laptop display on the television I get a message that prompts me to search for a presentation to open (Something like "Browse for presentation..."). The problem is that I don't want to open a presentation. I want to watch a DVD (through WinDVD or Windows Media Player).

Any ideas as to what I can do here?

I went through the same thing. You do not need Presentation Director to do this.

Right click on an open area of the desktop and choose: Properties > Settings > Advanced > Overlay > Theater mode options... > then choose either Theater Mode or Same on all. With Theater Mode, you will not see your mouse or player onscreen menus on the TV, only on the laptop. With Same on all, your TV will show your mouse and player onscreen menus just like on the laptop.
