9 cell or ultrabay battery

#1 Post by gg3761 » Sun Jul 04, 2004 11:44 pm

I want to add an extra battery to my T42. Which is the better choice?

I would say the 9 cell. It gives an extra 2 hrs I believe. I can't see a super slim ultrabay slim battery giving that much more juice. Besides I for one think the 9 cell on the back looks cool, others would disagree. I think if it doesn't bother you that it sticks out then go for it.

I say go for the nine cell as well. With the Ultrabay battery you get +2 hours with the use of the 6-cell. With the 9-cell you can just swap it with the six cell for an additional 6 hours.

I also vote for the 9 cell battery. It does stick out the back but does not get into the way. I would rather use the ultrabay for what it has in it now. I have used my TP42p for 4.5 hours and still had 37% remaining, indicated.

Also, the 9 cell battery gives the T42 a great handle to pick it up and carry it with.

9 cell and ultrabay batteries? Wow, that would be like 10 hrs of straight computing. Just need a harness to strap the laptop to your chest. :)

The 9-cell is a better deal. The ultrabay battery is nice in that it doesn't change the dimensions or weight of the machine, but I think it is too expensive ($150+) for what it offers (1.5-2 hours more at best).
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

I had a dream last night that my tree in the back yard started to grow $100 bills and I went out and plucked them all down and came in the house, called up Bill and bought both the 9 cell and the ultrabay slim batteries. he he. :)

Yeah man, if you can afford it get them both. All day computing rocks. If I didn't use my dvd drive so much I would get both, next season that is when the tree is back in bloom. $$$

Thanks for all the replys. I think i'll start with the 9 cell ($99, free shipping NewEgg). Maybe the other later.

Ultrabay batt for $95.

I have all three types, and the ultrabay adds 2 hrs too. 9 cell - 6 cell = 3 cell. Ultrabay is a 3 cell. And it allows you to swap batt w/o turning the TP off. It is also a better technology, being a Li-polymer instead of Li-ion.

Need juice? Get them all, should 10+ hrs.
