CPU High System Performance vs CPU Adaptive

#1 Post by akhavan » Mon Jul 05, 2004 1:05 am

Hi,

I have my T41P system on CPU speed "Adaptive' for both Battery and AC.
However, I'm not really happy with it. The PowerDVD keeps saying CPU power 575 MHz even though the window XP says it is 1.69 GHz so some options are not available, the Spy Sweeper takes longer so as Norton antivirus for system scans with "Adaptive" compare to Max CPU (almost couple of minutes!).

Is there any danger such as CPU failure if I leave my system on High Performance i.e. Max CPU with AC in IBM Battery MaxiMiser? Will it make the fan to work nonstop? And will T41P will get too hot?

With AC I use my T41P in IBM ThinkPad Dock II and the Fan in it always works (with "Adaptive" CPU in Battery MaxiMiser). And yes you can hear it but I guess eventually you get use to it.

It will not hurt it. It will just use the battery faster.

No, I meant with AC. I'm going to leave it on "Adaptive" for battery. in general I do not think this "Adaptive" works as it should.

i think almost everyone does, because all default power schemes of the battery maximiser set the processor to full speed in AC mode, they only differ in battery mode.
