I'm using Intel 2915ABG in my Thinkpad t42p and so far it has been working flawlessly.

I got it from Newegg (almost $30 cheaper, $35 total including shipping) and with a simple BIOS modification I was able to get it to work in less than 15 seconds.

I would highly recommend 2915ABG it anyone.

Sure, here you go:

http://jcnp.pku.edu.cn/~shadow/1802/1802.txt

Download no-1802.com and run it from either DOS (you can make Win98 bootable diskette from http://www.bootdisk.com and boot from it) or from Linux. Once patch is run, you can use any miniPCI card you like in your T40.

Stop thinking about buying an Intel-Card!

Your Router uses an Atheros-Chipset based Wifi module (Atheros produces these 108MBit modules!), so you should get the IBM 802.11abg (Philips/Atheros) MiniPCI Card for your system to get optimal results.

BTW: The recent Intel drivers just suck. Random disconnects and fluctuating speeds.

That BIOS hack is nasty and dangerous (If BIOS is patched). If BIOS is not patched but the CMOS tool is used, FN+F5 will not work.

Thank you so much...that was so helpful in tracking one down...after running the DOS patch to allow any wireless card, you said that FN+F5 doesn't work....is there a way of removing the patch after running it...???

Thanks...

The DOS CMOS tool should be able to do that.

Just buy an original IBM 802.11abg card. The higher price is worth it, believe me. Bothering around with that hack is just a waste of time.

But AFAIK only the 802.11abg II card is able to do 108mbit (Super G turbo mode).

Not for me and a whole load of people in this forum and newsgroups around the world. There _ARE_ problems in the driver, the Changelog shows that. And they' ve not yet been fixed completely.
