How to update CDRW/DVD_ROM firmware without floppy?

my combo drive cannot read DVD-R, so was thinking that updating the firmware might be able to help.. using a M a t s u s h i t a UJDA755y...

can anyone advise how to update the firmware of the combo drive if I do not own a floppy drive? the firmware update software requires the floppy..

i have tried to use the virtual drive to extract out the files, and burn it onto a CD-R. but when i tried booting up from my CDROM, the CD is not able to boot up..

you cant, you need a floppy drive for that
