T40 SXGA Screen Quality

#1 Post by Otter » Sun Oct 23, 2005 8:48 am

Is there anything I can do to make the colors look better on my SXGA screen?

The biggest issue is the blacks are not so black.

The only thing I've found so far is the brightness levels on the keyboard.

Anyone ot some info on this?

In my experience there's not much you can do. The regular XGA and SXGA+ panels are not too good in terms of color reproduction and brightness. Having seen my T40 next to a T42p with FlexView display, I've concluded that the only solution would be to buy a T42p :?

The Samsung SXGA+ (14.1") panel on my T42p (GVU) looks terrific. Blacks are dark (not as dark as my PowerBook, but every bit as good as the three XGA T2x machines I've owned).

The only complaints I have are that contrast is a bit lower than the best XGA panels (T22 and 12" PowerBook) and the viewing angle leaves a bit to be desired (an advantage when I fly though, privacy and all).
