I've decided on a Thinkpad to purchase for law school. But I'm having slight trouble deciding between three Thinkpads direct from IBM. I probably be able to get the price down if I call, I figure
My top choice is the #2379DKU: T41, 1.6 M, 512 MB Ram, 14.1 (1024 res.), ATI 7500 card, integrated b/g wireless, with a 3 year onsite next day warranty for $1986 + tax
I'm also looking at the well-stocked #2379DJU, the same except only 256 MB, has 1400 x 1050 res, ATI 9000, integrated b wireless...for $1956 (add $50 for crucial 256 MB ram)
Although i'm not sure if this is past my budget, but the T42 model #2378FZU with a 15" display, but apparently not centrino and 5.7 lb. instead of 4.9 lb. is $2147.
Any thoughts, I'm trying to get the best computer for the money. Thanks
Which Thinkpad should I buy?

The 1024 resolution one I would discard it without thinking it twice. Look, while I and replying to your email now I am seeing your post underneeth in my 1400 screen. I would have to be scrolling up and down with a 1024. Believeme, you will never go back to anything less than a 1400!!
Then, the 2378 have only 1yr warranty. Take the 3ys. If the 2378 have a good price, at least buy the extension warranty to 3ys with it. By the way, 2378FZU is a Centrino, but that for me is a disadvantage.
For around $2000 you should almost be able to get a T42. Look further on the tabook. Then if to get a 14" and 15", as a student, if you take the laptop frequently to classes, take the 14". If not, go with the 15".

X220t IPS but but a bit unhappy with it
T60p 2007-93U 1600x1200 IPS (T42p is an overall better machine though. Lack of new IPS Thinkpads keeps me buying these older models!)
T42p 2373-KXU 1600x1200 IPS (The best ever!!)
A20p 2629-6UU 1400x1050 (My first Thinkpad!)
