Portability
Portability
I carried my T40 with a 14.1" display around grabbing it with one hand and it was like picking up notebook - no problem - anyone with a 15 incher able to do the same. Does the extra weight make that much of a difference? Anyone out there able to compare the 2?
Bern, here we go again
Anyway I have both and it is really a matter of preference. You somehow need to see both together to answer your own questions. In otherwords you can not know from other peoples experiences. To answer your question as I reread your post, I am not Paul Bunyan and can not pick either one up quite that easy. So can not answer adequately.

I have the T42 and am getting used to handling it like I did my older T30 and T21 series. It feels a bit more ackward being that it is a bit bigger than the other 2. As far as weight my T42 is actually lighter than my T30 so the weight is not an issue there. I know the T40 and T41's are much lighter, that may be an issue to move from one of them to a 15'.

Well I have both an A22p and a T23, they are both basically the same machine except the A22p has a 15in screen and the T23 has a 14in. And the T23 is lighter and thinner. What I am leading up to here is that the 15in screen (to me) is not really all that worth it. Look at the benefits of having a 14in screen.
1. Resale value is better.
2. Lighter
3. Smaller
4. Less battery usage
5. Less chance of getting bad pixel because there are less pixels on screen. Ok, that one was reaching but there is some logic there.
Anyways I think that as long as you get the sxga 14incher you should be good. Just make sure your eyesight is good. I have perfect vision but I hear this is a problem for many folks out there. My wife for instance has a hard time, she has glasses. For a good clear readable screen for the vision impaired you are stuck with a XGA on a 14 in screen or SXGA on a 15 in screen.
I recently just sold my A22p and kept my older A20p because the older one has the sxga 15 in screen and the A22p has the UXGA screen and it is hard to read. Not so much because of the small type but because of the screen technology. Looks like you are viewing the desktop through a dirty window. Wierd. The apple 23in lcd monitor has the same problem. I got the 20in apple lcd just for that problem.
Good luck.
