Ok I managed to install both windvd and power dvd , but every time I try to play a dvd it tells me that no valid drive/disk found
I have tried the disk in other t41P's and and it works OK .
I have even swapped my drive with other T41Ps and it still doesnt work on my machine.
On thing I noticed also is when a DVD is inserted , under my computer it changes from DVD/CD-RW to CD rom .
There is something wrong with my machine but I dont want to have to re-install everything .
Any Suggestions

Thanks

Try going to Device Manager, click the + sign next to DVD/CD-ROM drives, right click on the DVD drive, uninstall it, leave Device Manager and reboot.

If that doesn't work, then in addition to the above, go to Device Manager, click the + sign next to IDE/ATA ATAPI controllers and uninstall all devices listed under IDE/ATA ATAPI controllers, leave Device Manager and reboot.

In both cases above, Windows should reinstall the drivers for the devices, and fix your problem.
