Replace No Touchpad for Touchpad...???

#1 Post by sickofit » Wed Oct 26, 2005 4:17 pm

Just curious if it possible to put a palmrest on a T40 with the touchpad,if it doesn't have the touchpad to begin with...is the plug-in there...????

They sell for $10 bucks U.S on Ebay, but would rather deal with someone on here first,if someone has one IN GOOD SHAPE !!! for $10 bucks U.S plus shipping to Ontario,Canada.

Anyone..??

Thanks..

My guess would be yes since motherboards on T40s are the same. In addition to touchpad you also would need a bezel to go with it.

The easiest thing, however, is for you to take off the bezel on your T40 and see if you have a plug for the Touchpad.

Any chance that would be possible on a T23?

Probably not, as first of all there is no touchpad palm rest for the T2x series.

Not possible on the T23 .. but totally swappable on the T4 machines.

As others have said it will work fine on any of the T4* series.

The question I would ask though is why would you want to - give the TrackPoint a chance and most people grow to love it and despise TouchPads.

I've never had a TP with the touchpad, and would just like to give it a try, with having the option to put the plain one back on if I don't like it..never liked them on other laptops...and there is a small crack by the IBM logo above the hard drive opening on it now,not a big deal, but bothers me nonetheless....LOL

And i've had a 760EL,770,770ED,770X,600X,T23,and this T40,plus a few other makes.....I really like the trackpoint, but want to try the touchpad....
