T43 + Ubuntu (anyone have this setup) and HD partitioning

#1 Post by hootpie » Thu Oct 27, 2005 12:41 am

My T43 has gone from 3-4 weeks, to backordered, to within 2 weeks, to packing!

During this wait without a real computer (sold my other one), I loaded Ubuntu on an old 950mhz Athlon system. I actually like it and wouldn't mind using it as a secondary OS.

Does anyone have Ubuntu dual-booting on their T43? If so, how does it run and are there any recommendations you can make (i.e. what to avoid during install, what to install etc)?

Also, I want to reformat the HD to free up that 5gb (I'll burn backup CD's) and to have a partition for Linux. How do you guys recommend I format the HD so I can have Win XP Pro and Ubuntu together? I'd like to be able to cross-access files between OS's (i.e. music files, pictures etc), is that possible?

Thanks in advance :)

I have a dual boot xppro/ubuntu on my t43p but for the moment i don't use ubuntu...
Just follow ubuntuguide.org for setup...

Be careful... if u use the ubuntu partitionner, don t use the xp's one after... i had a bad surprise doing this...

For partitionning it's like you want... i made 5gb for /, 5gb for /home and 1go for swap.
