IBM Admits That My T43 2010 System Error Should Not Exist!

#1 Post by Jonathan » Sat Oct 29, 2005 2:33 pm

I purchased the IBM Part Number 40Y8716 which is really the Hitachi Part Number HTS541010G9AT00 5400 RPM 100 Gigabyte IDE Disk Drive.

After downloading and installing onto a Boot Floppy Disk the Harddrive Firmware Release 11 System Software which was dated 10/13/2005, I am still receiving the 2010 System Error.

My T43 1875 Computer also has the latest BIOS upgrade.

I called IBM and they admitted to me that with the Hitachi IDE Disk Drive which is also a supported IBM Disk Drive, that I should not be receiving the 2010 System Error Message.

IBM said that they are working on this problem and will post a Software fix on their web site soon.

Does anyone else have any ideas on how to solve the 2010 System Error Message which I am still receiving?

Jonathan

Interesting, but I wonder what they would say about the 7k100 that's non-IBM (no FRU#). IBM branded parts are much more expensive than non-IBM branded parts.
T43 (2687-DUU) - 1.86GHz, 1.5GB RAM, 100GB 5400 (non IBM-firmware Hitachi 5k100) HD, Fingerprint Scanner, 802.11abg/Bluetooth, ATI x300
