T-42 2379-DXU Hung after installing new BIOS!
Just installed the latest BIOS this AM. Everything seemed to be working OK but I noticed the Touchpad icon flash in the taskbar. Since I don't use the Touchpad I went to TP Configuration and disabled it. Everything seemed to be fine until the first reboot at which time it froze at the sign in window. Neither the TP or eraserhead are working. Tried to hit the ACCESS IBM button on re-boot and after it cycles through and comes to the choices window I'm still stuck with no TP or eraserhead. Nothing seems to move the cursor. Tried F6 & F8 no help. What next?
TIA,
Tom Heitzman

Cheers from someone who repaired IBM computers w/60,000 vacumn tubes in the early 60's and still hasn't found a better keyboard than IBM's!

Try going into the bios and verifying the settings for trackpoint and ultranav .. since you don't use the pad, set it to disabled and ensure that the trackpoint is enabled. First thing I would try.

DUH!
I'd disabled the Touchpoint by mistake while Touchpad was already disabled!
Hooked up external USB trackball and rectified the situation. This is the type of stupidity I had to deal with in 24 years of computer repair with the USAF and Burroughs! I guess I was right when I said computer operators were mostly retarded!
