When will Ts get DVI out on the back

#1 Post by WilsonF » Mon Oct 31, 2005 6:51 pm

So we don't have to use port replicators to get DVI output.

If anyone associated with IBM or Lenovo can make an anonymous post with an educated guess, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

I'd guess like the Z series, the parallel port will be gone on the next T series. If done right (ie not just DVI-D like on the old docks) then I too would welcome a DVI port but I wouldn't hold my breath for it being on the next T series, maybe the next again.

I would think that parallel ports will be gone on all the new product lineup .. but I suspect that DVI remains something that is still not mainstream enough to get space on the planar. Maybe on the follow-on follow-on models!

That's probably the #1 reason for buying a port replicator or docking station. Seems like wise marketing to keep it that way.

I know the ACER 8104 has a DVI port, and my Dell 9300 has a DVI port, but I'd be hard pressed to think of any others that do.

Apple puts DVI on the PowerBooks but not VGA. PowerBook users who make presentations using customer's projectors need to carry a little adapter cable to convert DVI to VGA. It works well enough.
