Automatically starting the HD Active Protection System
Automatically starting the HD Active Protection System
I have a new T41p and it has the Hard Drive Active Protection System (APS elsewhere in this post). When I boot the machine, the APS is not on; if I open the APS Properties window through Access IBM or the Control Panel, the checkbox that says "Enable hard drive active protection system" is checked. Once I click OK on the Properties window, APS starts.
How can I get APS to automatically start? Thanks!
(And yes, I have searched the forum here but didn't find an aswer.)

"If the box is already checked when you open the window, then how do you know it isn't started until you press OK? APS is supposed to automatically start up."
Two reasons:
1) The icon doesn't appear in the system tray until I open the dialog and click OK
2) I still have that windo pop up to notify me when the drive is suspended, and that doesn't happen until I open the dialog and click OK
So to me, it doesn't seem to be loading until I actually open the dialog and click OK. Otherwise, I'd expect the system tray icon to load when I start Windows.

Hmm, well it is possible that it's working but just not loading the tray program. What if you try playing an MP3 in a player that doesn't buffer the entire file and then shaking your computer (lightly, of course, because APS might not be working
). If it IS working, then the music should skip, otherwise it won't. Because of APS, I have to use a music player that does buffer the entire file or I get unwanted skips, heh.
