New T43 won't recognize iPod

I have installed iTunes and iPod off the iTunes site but I cannot get my new T43 to recognize my iPod. The iTunes plays just fine through the speakers so it is working.

Any suggestions?

I used to have this problem on a few laptops I have had; not, thankfully, on my T43. I have solved it in various ways, but it seems to be more of a Symptom than a real issue.

I would try making sure it has the iPod Software Update; try unplugging it for a minute, then plugging it back.

Itunes for windows is pretty bad. I've had lots of problem with it, on a number of computers. Perhaps uninstall and reinstall itunes. That is, unless the computer is not recognizing any drive is attached when you plug it in, in which case, you may try to get it to recognize it manually. I'd check itunes first though.

The iPod has nothing to do with iTunes. iTunes is merely an app that could be used to put music on the iPod.

Make sure you have the latest iPod software installed, reboot, then try a sync. If your firmware is out of date, it will prompt you for an update as well.

Not true. You just need iTunes to load songs to iPod.

Sorry to say , but I think you will have to reset your iPod to fabric/original settings. Just leave iTunes unchanged.
I experienced the same thing, not when changing from T43 to T43p, but after upgrading iPod the last time.
