Hello, T43. Dead Pixel
Hello, T43. Dead Pixel
hello, new t43 owner here. experiences so far
bad:
had a dead pixel that is always white 1" off center on the right side
no ps/2 mouse key board port
didn't like the OS system, reinstalled OS
after reinstall 2 IDE controller appeared under Unknow device which hard drive is function and primary and seconard IDE controller already detected. called IBM, they said it might be xp ghosting. reformatted and reinstalled, still there, unresolved and no one know what it is. (xp prof)
heard a crack noise the other day when i simply move my laptop from a table to another , but could not find any damages
the cd/dvd drive rattles when busy
the lcd kinda lags when playing a dvd movie
battery life is no where close to 3 hours
so final review: bleh
good:
the fan is there for a reason, dis. heat. i rather have a working fan then a fried thinkpad
keyboard was ok but nothing i stress about
thinklight is cool
impressed by the IBM hard drive security
the ibm driver manager is cool

Hmmmm, Strange...if you didn't like the OS, why did you buy it with, I assume, Windows XP? You can order a CTO from the Site with Linux or most other OSes of your choice. The battery life also varies with usage, you only get maximum if you go to the "Max" on Power Saving. I find that the lack of a PS/2 is rather good since I don't need wasted space for a mouse.

I.....Uhh....Heh
Just came across a little issue right now...I seem to have generated a "Stuck Pixel" for some reason or another
The Good and the Bad:
1.) Stuck Pixels are Transient
2.) They bug the Hell out of me
Ahhhh, this....isn't all that funny though; what the hell...
EDIT: Yeeeeeee, WTF?! I just moved Winamp over it a few times and it got dimmer again...then not....then again; I never realized this about LCDs

OK, Update....
I actually didn't play the PSP Video, but I took the idea and ran with it. All I did was Expand the Winamp Visualizer and play some good rock and roll music at a fast tempo. Kept it in a certain part of the screen and generated a stuck pixel I managed to get rid of later....quite interesting, I really didn't know you could do that on LCDs; shows you how much I know about LCDs
