Why new drive created?

#1 Post by jjfcpa » Sun Nov 06, 2005 8:56 am

I decided to run the Software Installer on my new T43p and it downloaded a couple of dozen updates and installed them. One of them was Rescue and Recovery and during that process it asked to create a backup drive of 100 MB. I guess I may have been asleep at the wheel when it did this because I'm not sure why I now have an "R" logical drive with nothing in it. Where can I change the configuration to get rid of it if I don't want it?

Also, I noticed that a lot of the IBM tools were moved from the Access IBM option on the Start / Programs menu to the Think Vantage. Probably Lenovo's way of getting a little more separation from the IBM nomenclature.

I believe it is a personal drive that only your login can access, it is supposed to be a highly secure encrypted drive. The same thing happened on my Thinkpad, I simply uninstalled it. This happened to me a few weeks ago so I don't exactly remember what I uninstalled.

I believe that this is a PrivateDisk created by the "Client Security Solution". Go to ThinkVantage->Client Security Solutions->Protect Data. You should be able to delete the "logical" drive mapping from there.
