T40 H/D? Noise

#1 Post by JChrzanowski » Wed Nov 09, 2005 11:47 pm

I noticed I started getting this winding noise occasionally. I've narrowed it down to Microsoft Outlook, when it Send's/Recieves it makes the noise. To better describe it, it sounds like 2 capacitors are being charged, one after another coming from underneath the right palm rest. It is definatley not the speakers, but I'm not sure what this is. It has never happened before. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

one after another coming from underneath the right palm rest.....

that is were the HDD is located. Hmm, download DFT and run an advanced test, if you get a nice RED screen with yellow letters then time to backup and get a new HDD. In fact just back all your data now, just in case
