On my t43p, for a desktop use in a 20°C room, during the 1st 15 minutes, there will be no fan. After that the cpu will be at about 42°C and the fan will begin to fan in its 1st speed (the speed that is quiet even in a library or a classroom. i estimate that this speed make the same noise like the hdd spin). After about 30 minutes, as the cpu is always at about 42°C - 44°C, the fan will enter its 2nd speed and never lower its speed again (it's the speed that is acceptable in most situations except in a completely silent place like a library or a classroom).
To enter the 3rd speed (which is not the last speed compared to the speed when you just boot up), my cpu has to reach 75°C (i reached this temp. once by playing a direct9.0c game "First Encounter Assault Recon").

my t43 is another story.as I already know,my fan are allways running at the lowest speed.no matter what temperature the cpu is,45degree or 85degree,it just run at the lowest speed.I think that must be some thing strange.some times,I rearlly want it running at hight speed to cool down the cpu.for example,I play need for speed 8.the temperature of the cpu reach 85degree.But the fan run at the lowest all the same.
one thing I want to mention that the BIOS version is 1.23 and the embedded controller version is 1.03.

I think the fan speed has 3 levels. On my T43-2668 ,during the earliest 10 mins, fan is turn off. When cpu is at 43 C, the fan will turn on and working at first level. After about 20 mins, When cpu is at about 45 C , the fan will working level 2. And When cpu's temp goes down 42 C, the fan couldnt be slow down to level 1. It's always working at 2 level and no matter what temp of cpu

During Boot Up on Battery, the Fan Spools up..then shuts off for about one hour to an hour and a half; this, however, depends on the CPU Loading..I have found that my fan usually kicks in around 55 Degrees Celsius. Sometimes, it kicks in around the high 40s, but that is rare and only when I begin to heavily load the CPU. I have also noticed that there is a way to get it down from the higher levels of Fan Noise. It took one day of experimenting, but I got it; you first change how much you are loading the system by taking away a few resource-significant tasks. Then you change the Power Manager Mode to another one that reduces fan noise, assuming that the one you were using is optimized to reduce fan noise to begin with both on Battery and on Mains Power. Then you simply wait, as every 15 minutes or so the Fan will go down slightly, as is it goes up slightly, then comes down...As if it reluctant to slow down...but eventually it will spool down all the way to Level 1 and, after an hour or 45 minutes, it should shut off as long as you don't increase the *rate* at which you are loading the CPU; as far as I know, this rate shouldn't exceed more than around 70% Increase CPU Activity/Second...that brings the fan right back up again.
