Have my T42 for 2 months, a few problems.

#1 Post by Ashiaveli » Mon Nov 14, 2005 12:51 pm

First, I get missing operating system error when i hit the access ibm button on boot.

next, i got a virus and cleaned it but now my fn+f5 doesnt work, as well as f3,f4,f7.

They are running in the background but they do not work. I have reinstalled the apps off ibm's website, updated things but no go.

any ideas?

Can you make a Set of Recovery Disks?

If you can, make them, save your data, and Restore your system using those disks. :)

If this isn't a HDD issue, I think that a resotre might be your best bet...What would be even better would be if you made an IBM R&R image that is as close to the factory image as possible. Then it would be around 20 mintues to go back to the last working image. Although that “Missing Operating System” Error during Boot up doesn’t sound too promising; try putting NHC or ActiveSMART Monitor on your system and see what it says about the status of the disk. Restoring now, moving your data, etc would be of no use if the drive crashes hard after the restore.

:)

i fixed the missing operating system error, its because i had compressed the c partition.

still cant fix my problem with the fn+f5. i've updated all ibm's apps but no luck. it is running in process list and does work in safe mode, just not in windows :/
