Preventing IR to install hardware or drivers.

What i'm really trying to find help on is preventing windows to install drivers or hardware devices (such as my phone) when I want to send a file via IR. I hate the fact it always wants to install an additional modem when I beam my phone to my computer. Is there a way possible to disable that?

Maybe not exactly what you are looking for, but you could let Windows install the device, then disable the device in Device Manager. From then on, Windows should not bother you anymore.
