T41P Refresh Rate

#1 Post by JASE » Wed Jul 07, 2004 1:50 pm

Hi,

There is something strange with the ATI Mobility FireGL Display Properties.

If I enter the Advanced settings and go to the Displays tab it says the the max refresh rate is 50 Hz.

If I go to the Monitor tab the only choice is 60 Hz?

Which is correct? - and does it even matter which refresh rate I select for the TFT panel.

Also, is there any reason to choose the IBMTPLCD Color profile under the Color Management tab? - I've never really understood the purpose of the color profiles. Can anyone explain the use of those?

Best regards

JASE

Hello Jase,

60 Hz is correct, more would be possible but your notebook display would support it.

With regards to color profiles - these supposedly adjust the settings of the display to make displayed colors as close as possible to their real life counterparts (e.g. a blue that is 0,0,256 will on display look like what would be printed on a properly calibrated printer).

My Samsung CRT came with a utility to create a profile and this is what that software tells me. I don't know how effective these color profiles are.
