Strange power / battery meter problem.

#1 Post by roberts5 » Thu Nov 17, 2005 4:38 pm

Yesterday I was using my comptuer on A/C power and it randomly shut off. It would not restart, so I unplugged it, took out the battery for a minute and then tryed again. It worked, but was slow to start up at first.

I read online that this has happened to other people, but haven't found out why (did read something about a short or bad connection in the A/C adapter).

Then today while on A/C power I put my computer in hybernation, then unplugged it a few minutes later. When I went to start it up it wouldn't go again. Did the same thing as before and it did start right up EXCEPT:

Now my battery meter reads at 0%. This is obviously wrong because my computer was charging all night and I've been using it for the last 20 minutes.

Just a little background and other info: Bought the computer used 2 weeks ago w/ no other problems; theres still time on the warrenty; usually get about 3-4 hours out of battery; when its plugged in this area under the computer (I think its on the left side, but not sure) gets really hot.

Any ideas? Thanks.
