t series keyboard screw - stripped??!

#1 Post by rxl77 » Fri Nov 18, 2005 1:22 am

Hi,

I was attempting to remove the 4 keyboard screws, and one of the screws is stripped - I can't get it out at all... What can I do now? Am I screwed? Is there any way to get the screw out?

Welcome to my situation, I had a bad wifi card.
Tell IBM about it. Explain that the screw is stripped.
Do youreself a favor, take the trackpoint cap you LIKE off the keyboard, replace with a cap you hate.

Try using a slightly smaller/thinner flat edge precision screwdriver. Add pressure to the top of the precision screwdriver, pushing down, while using pliers with the other hand to turn the precision screwdriver.

I have had this happen, by using a screwdriver that was slightly larger than I should have used. There was enough groove left in the middle to grip with a smaller precision screwdriver.
