T43 Display Resolution?

#1 Post by Patrick Allen » Sat Nov 19, 2005 10:26 am

I recently bought a new T43 and found out that the display resolution only allows 1024 x 768 (argh !!).

Is there a way to increase the resolution by installing a different video card ... or am I stuck at 1024 x 768?

Any help would be appreciated.

You could have gotten an SXGA Screen; which would allow you to go up to 1400x1050...but that isn't a function of the Video Card, it is more a function of the LCD Matrix type, namely SXGA+ vs XGA.

Huh? Which video card did you get in yours? In mine, several resolutions are available, on the LCD and the external display. If you're finding that when you change a res, it just shrinks down on your LCD, reboot into BIOS and look for a Config -> Display -> HV expansion setting and enable it. This will make smaller resolutions "stretch" to fill the LCD. I don't like the results, but YMMV.

If 1024x768 is what you Max out at, then you have an XGA Screen. :)

If it bothers you that much you could return/sell it and get the SXGA.
