Hi folks: I'm having a bad brain day........... My daughter has a T41 with a Radeon 7500 video chip, which has hardware acelleration support for DirectX 7. She's looking to get the Dance Dance Revolution software (Stepmania) but it says "Requires Direct3D 8". Is this the same as DirectX 8.0 support? In which case the software won't run, I guess? Any ideas???

Yes Direct3D 8 is a part of DirectX 8.

Download and install the latest version of DirectX (9.0c) from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/ and you should be good to go. You might miss some of the eye-candy that you would get on a newer chip that supported all the DirectX 8 features, but the game should still work fine.

Thanks, Andy. So if I understand correctly, the DirectX 8 or newer software should allow me to play the game on my T41 that provides hardware support for DirectX 7?

StepMania works fine on my T42 with a radeon 7500. It should just require software support for DX9.
