Buying question

#1 Post by Stingray » Sun Nov 27, 2005 12:20 pm

Hi guys,
I am buying a T43 but can’t decide whether to buy form Lenovo’s website directly or an online retailer? Is there any difference where you buy it from or are there any advantages??? Warranty may be??? Quality issues maybe??? Return issues??? With Lenovo I will have to pay a sales tax where as from Newegg I wont. Do you guys know of a good online retailer?
Gracias....

I knew if buying from newegg, you can receive it quicker than from ibm/lenovo

Have you checked out the T43's Bill has for sale on the thinkpads.com website? Otherwise, in my opinion ANY authorised retailer is superior to ordering from Len-Oh-No! (as I call them). Ask if they will have a tech check out the laptop for you before shipping (to avoid suprises). If not, ask what their policy is for defective returns, and what exactly will they consider a "defect". How do they treat pixel defects? If you have to return the laptop for reason of defect will they advance-ship your replacement quickly at no charge (and overnight or by your original method)? I'm sure there are other important questions I'm forgetting. Order what is in stock and ask for a detailed e-mail or fax of exactly what you are receiving. Make sure you have it shipped via a guaranteed delivery service (I prefer FexEx) and/or try to negotiate a deal on overnight delivery.

Make a list of what is important to you and ask those as your questions may differ from those I feel are important.

Good Luck,
Yak
