T43 9-Cell Battery: 92P1102 (Lenovo) vs. 08k8197 (IBM)

#1 Post by ppk800 » Mon Nov 28, 2005 5:52 am

Hi All,

I would like to purchase a 9-cell battery for my t43. After searching the internet, I found two kinds:

(1) 92P1102 (made by Lenovo and compatible with T40/R50)
http://www.ptusainc.com/tp-t40-r50-seri ... ttery.aspx

(2) 08k8197 (made by IBM as a high capacity battery compatible with T40 series)
http://www.ptusainc.com/ibm-thinkpad-t4 ... ttery.aspx

Please give me your advice and suggestions with respect to the above listed batteries and/or any other ones that you guys know of.

Additionally, which internet store is a good place to buy battery? Has any of you had any experience with the store included in the links above?

Thanks very much,

Jen

Hi,

I purchased my 08k8197 made by IBM for my T40 from Computer Giants

http://www.computergiants.com/items/one ... ubcat=1151

They were super nice and helpful on the phone. However, the price went up since I bought mine by $15. So take this info as it is.

Unfortunately I can't offer any info regarding Lenovo's 9 cell battery

I would focus on the Amount of Power the Batteries deliver. The IBM Battery only has 6600mAH, the Lenovo Products offers 7200mAH.
So i'd go for the Lenovo product.
For the advice about different shops i'd say that you should tell what country you're from.

Thanks for the prompt responses. I'm from New York City. Please elaborate on the importance of the amount of power delivered. Would either one of the two above mentioned batteries be compatible with my T43?

Thanks,

Jen

Jen, get the Lenovo one...as another poster pointed out...The IBM Battery only has 6600mAH, the Lenovo Products offers 7200mAH...

You will get about 10% greater battery life out of the 7200mAH Lenovo unit.

Either one will DEFINITELY work with your T43...I know, I have done it...they all fit...

FWIW

Woah, wish I had known about the differences between the two batteries! I got the IBM 6600mAH unit - it was mfg'd in Nov 2003 but shows first used date of Nov 2005 :?

Had I known there existed two battery types, I would have gotten the Lenovo one for sure...

Is there any chance the shop "reset" the battery's first-used date? :!:

Don't know about the reset question but the manufactured date in 03 is not a good thing because these batteries degrade just by the passage of time even if they are not used, although using them does wear them out even faster. So ideally you would want to get a battery that was recently manufactured.

Thanks all. I ended up ordering the Lenovo one. I'll give you all my take on it once I receive it.
