what the hell is this on my lcd? very unhappy...please help.
2days ago this very annoying spot appeared on my t43 sxga screen. it doesnt look at like a bad/dead pixel and i never had one. only some random stack pixels which were dissapearing after reboot or switch the lcd off and on.
its not on the outside as i have cleaned the screen thousands of times with special tft cleaner. it looks like its on the inside.
can this be from a damage to the lcd and how the hell that happened, as i am taking care of it like a baby.
please state your opinion on this and advise me what to do.

I had a very similar problem with my T41p, except the pixels were the opposite of what you have in the sense that they were brighter than their neighbours. Judging by the size of the "smudge" IBM/lenovo will replace the LCD as it appears to easily cover the minimum amount of defective pixels rule.

Looks almost like something has gotten in between the layers of the LCD.
There have been several comments in the forum about people getting liquid or bugs (yes, real bugs) in between the layers.
If it goes in for warranty, you will most likely get a new LCD, because to repair it, you need to be in a clean room, which is more expensive and time consuming for them to do, than to just replace your LCD.

My T42 has the same problem...some sort of debris between the layers of the LCD. I'm nervous about sending it in for warranty replacement as this one has developed only one bad pixel that I never notice unless I hunt for it. The crap inside the LCD is another story, though--but I'm worried that the replacement LCD might have more bad pixels than this one!
A question for those who've sent theirs in...did you remove your HD and all aftermarket components (memory, etc) before sending it in?

Each time that I have returned a machine I removed the Hard Disk, the Media Bay and the Battery. If you have the changed memory try to leave only the amount that was in your machine on initial purchase otherwise make sure you inform the delivery person about how much RAM is currently in the machine.
The delivery person, that initiallly collects the machine, makes a note of anything that has been removed or any signs of external damage. You then have to sign a form stating that you agree to what the delivery person noted is correct. The machine is then placed in a sealed plastic bag and then into a protective cardboard box, which is also sealed, for delivery to the repair center.
Don't bother putting post-its or any other little notes in your machine in order to inform IBM what to do, they will simply be ignored. It is very important that you clearly state any problems that you have over the telephone or on the webform that you used when making initial contact with IBM.
When your machine comes back you will have to perform that reverse of what happened above. Cardboard Box, Plastic bag, resign the formulaire.
If you have the opportunity quickly reassemble your machine and boot it up in front of the delivery person, this will give you at least one witness in case of any problems. Although he will refuse to take the machine back again, you have to reopen a new ticket with IBM first.
I have had to return my last machine 4 times in total, 2 * defective pixels, video card burnt out and a defective Keyboard. I have never waited more than 48 hours between the time the delivery person came and returned.
I can only felicitate IBM for their service.
