T 42 battery maximiser

#1 Post by john 86 » Wed Nov 30, 2005 3:46 am

I am having some trouble with my T 42 ThinkPad. I have set the battery to begin charging when below 30% and to stop charging at 80%. I have used this to try and maximise the battery life, as I normally run the ThinkPad off mains supply.
When I rolled the pointer over the battery icon it confirms my settings, but the computer doesn't seem to know this and doesn't start charging until I manually go back and adjust the system.
I've tried loading the latest software updates, but so far no success. Has anyone got any suggestions.
Many thanks John

Is this in Power Manager? In my version (# not available, not on my TP right now), you can have it do this automatically, and (optionally) alert me when battery conditioning is needed.

So far as my proggie indicates, we don't need to change the charge/not charge levels to keep a batt properly conditioned. You must know something that I don't. ;)

I seem to be having the same problem with my T42. My T42 used to charge the battery at the the threshold levels i had defined earlier on. But lately each time I restart the machine, it automatically starts charging the battery and overrides the threshold values in battery maximizer.

Same problem with my T42. It's a useless and annoying program that I wish Lenovo would fix.

I'll "fourth" that . . . I gave up on 'battery maximizer' some time ago. My battery is whacked after a year. I thought I could help it out by setting different charge parameters, but my settings never seemed to 'stick'. Oh well, I guess I'll buy a new battery when I'm home.
