Upgrade IBM/Lenovo 100gb HDD

#1 Post by ibm_phil » Wed Nov 30, 2005 5:44 am

Hi,

I am currently using a 60gb 5400rpm HDD with a 100gb Hitachi in the UltraBay Slim. I have read all the posts about the 2010 error but have one question, which i cant seem to find answered anywhere, but maybe im not looking hard enough.

I would now like to put a 100gb 5400rpm HDD in the primary slot, so i will have 200gb total. If i purchase the 100gb 5k off the IBM/Lenovo website, will i still get the 2010 error, or does this only happen with non-option drives? I dont mind paying the extra cash for the IBM option drives, but i just dont want that error message. It says on the website that the 100gb 5k will only work with Z series.

Hope im not asking the same question that may have been asked over and over again, i just need a simple yes or no answer so i can go ahead and do what i need to do.

Thanks,
Phil.

maybe you want to try the newest BIOS V1.24.
BIOS 1.24:

-(New) A new BIOS setup option, that allows system startup without pressing an ESC key on POST 2010 warning message.

With the new bios you don't need to press esc if you have an unsupported hdd:

Thanks for the fast replies, thats great news. I will get a new 100gb HDD and give it a try.

does that mean i can even get 100gb 7200rpm drive and it will work... even better.
