Case for UltraBay Drive

#1 Post by seguetester » Wed Nov 30, 2005 12:59 pm

I frequently swap out my DVD-ROM for a 2nd Battery or a 2nd HDD. Anyone know where I can get a good case for the UltraBay drive that I remove? (IBM made case preferred for fit).

I have an IBM case for UltraBay Slim devices (came with my DVD/RW and has IBM Thinkpad logo). If you're interested, for $10 it is yours.

There are usually Thinkpad Ultrabay drive cases available on eBay. Search under "Cases for laptops--Other styles" for "thinkpad". The cases are padded nylon with a velcro closure and "Thinkpad" logo and sell for $5-10 or so.

Caselogic makes, or made, some really nice, padded cases in various sizes. Might find one that works.

It occurs to me that some little CD carriers, if you cut out the sleeves for CDs, would fit the drive. In fact, I have an IBM RS/6000 6-disc carrier from a trade show many moons back, take out the sleeve thingie and the Ultrabay drive fits perfectly. The manufacturer name on the cd sleeves -- Caselogic. ;)
