New T43 Question

In software installer, the first two entries are my Intel wireless card and the Intel Chipset. Both are already at the most current version, though software installer doesn't seem to recognize it. I cleared the checkblocks before I installed everything else, but it still brings them up. How do I make this go away (can I make this go away)?

Also, I have AC4.0 and am exhibiting the "long welcome screen" wait. Somebody mentioned that clearing the checkblock for "use this connection to log in" solves the problem. Where is this checkblock?

Otherwise, I love the machine so far (2687-DSU). Of course, all I've done is update it...haven't even gotten around to de-junking it (Norton, etc.).

EDIT: Additional question--should I trust that software installer has downloaded all of the updated IBM software for my thinkpad, or are there items it may miss?
