USB problem after Hibernate and Standby

#1 Post by oslike » Mon Dec 05, 2005 8:12 am

Hi all

I have the following problem:

My T40P disables USB ports after coming back from Standby and Hibernation sometimes. So i cannot use external mouse or harddrive. I have to go to Hardwaremanager and disable the USB ports and then enable them again. The system board has been changed once in repair center (cuz USB ports got broken and only transfered with a speed of usb.v1) but this strange problem still remains.

Did any1 of the forum members ever experienced the same problem?

Greetings
Daniel

There have been other reports of USB problems like the one that cause you to send your T40p in for a new system board; but I haven't heard of anything like what you are experiencing happening after such a repair. You said this happens only sometimes, right? From what I know, you can try bootvis and see what system services start/resume/don't resume upon startup/standby/hibernate. It could be that Windows is not loading the system service for the USB properly. Check to see if the following system services actually resume correctly:

Plug and Play
Universal Plug and Play
Windows Management Instrumentation

I don't know if those are the exact ones, but they would help. Plus, do a standardised set of resume and hibernates and make a note of the "normal" changes in the system services. HTH :)
