#1 Post by ddutta » Mon Dec 05, 2005 10:18 pm

Wasn't there a thread awhille back about how to do this? I seem to remember reading it and noting that the resolution values were stored somewhere in the registry and could be changed to support a higher resolution. Let me see if I can find it. :)

I work in a similiar way. (t42p and 2005FPW). I think you have to work with the Radeon Omega drivers (http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati/win2k_xp.php )

By and large I would say it runs very smooth.

2005FP + presentation manager

#4 Post by jessek » Tue Dec 06, 2005 4:54 pm

I just set up my 2005FP today with my T40. PresentationManager doesn't know about the 2005FP's native resolution -- but the regular ATI driver does. Just set the resolution from the Display:Settings control panel and you can get the 1680x1050 (or whatever it is).

Unfortunately, if you connect with a VGA cable, your picture may be a bit blurry. (Mine is, and the T40 doesn't have a DVI port. :( )

You can always get it via DVI with a docking port; I still want a DVI port on my Thinkpad though, instead of that Parallel Port in the back which I never seem to use. :)

i have a dell 2005fpw and setting it up to work with my t41p was a breeze...just connect it to your ntb and extend your desktop through display properties...i was able to choose the native res right away using the ibm drivers...presentation manager does not support the resolution as far as i know...if you want to use profiles try ultramon for example.
hope this helps!

You can manually set the 1680*1050 resolution in presentation manager if you edit the registry a bit...it's stored as a simple hex value as display resolution or something...

Yep, I manually hacked Presentation Director's text file values to allow it to automatically set 1920x1200 for my 2405FPW. Previously, it wouldn't go above 1600x1200.

Works like a charm.

While in Pres Dir, make a single DVI or analog connection for the closest resolution you are wanting and set it up the way you want it.

Then, click on "Options" in the bottom right corner, and select "Export" scheme.

Then save that scheme to the desktop & open it up with notepad.

Change just the resolution, (enter in the value you want for Width & Height), save, then from Pres.Dir., follow the same steps, except this time, IMPORT the file you just saved back into Pres. Dir.

It's that simple, and you don't even need to mess with the registry!
