T41p hangs

#1 Post by biwax » Tue Dec 06, 2005 8:09 pm

Hello,

My T41p hangs after a random amount of time (it can hang while booting XP or after 10 minutes, but usually it always hangs in less than 10 minutes).
In fact, it hangs alone or I can hang it by just giving a small tap on the LCD screen ( ). I can also hang it by hitting (lightly) the table where the laptop lay.

When it hangs, the LCD goes black (shut down), the hard drive stops working, and then the wireless card shuts down (after a few seconds) and bluetooth as well. Then, the laptop is in a state where the power led is on but nothing can be done as almost everything is off.

It is a very frustrating behavior (which appeared suddenly) as I haven't enough time to backup my datas.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Any idea which component creates the problem?

Thanks.

Take a look at: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 948#117948

We had very similar problems, especially the crashing after barely touching the laptop.
