ThinkPad T42 External Display Widescreen

#1 Post by bwinters » Sat Dec 10, 2005 2:24 pm

I need help in configuring a Dell 24" widescreen to my T42 Thinkpad.

Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon 7500
Operating System: Windows XP
Dell 24" Widescreen

The Dell monitor has a maximum resolution of 1920x1200. My first problem is knowing how to set my external Dell monitor to be the primary display. The second problem is setting the resolution to 1920x1200.

I also have a docking station (port replicator), which I plan to set up later (once I understand how to set the desired resolution of the external monitor). Please provide any information you may have that may be specific to setting the external display resolution when using the docking station.

I admit that I am not even close to being an expert in this, so any solutions I hope will be simple.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

I had trouble setting my external monitor to a resolution that that the latest, greatest ATI drivers wouldn't allow (silly). I had better luck with the Omega drivers. Search the posts here, you'll find a link.

I found that I could edit and import Presentation Director profiles which specified the settings I wanted. But be careful, you could lock yourself in a blank screen running a res that your monitor won't support.
