Weird Fan Noise from T43

Hi guys, sorry to bring this topic up again. I recently purchased this T43 2687-D8U. Other than the fan noise problem, it's perfect. It's not a normal problem like noise varies from speeding up or slowing down. I write this to share my info and also if some people have similiar problem, who can probably share what they have done with this matter and maybe suggest me what to do.

I got this weird noise when it's running at a normal speed(By normal, I mean the fan is on most of the time, not running at full speed). Then every 8 secs or so, then suddenly the noise goes up loud for 1 secs then back to normal amount. Then the circle goes again. This is my fourth laptop and second thinkpad. I have never got this kinda weird noise before. Not sure if this is the problem for the T43 series. I called up for a replacement since I just have the laptop for two weeks but then they said they don't have this model any more. I am kinda deciding to keep this one or not....Also not sure if some people have the similiar problem.

Any suggestions?

i have experienced the same (or very similar) behaviour on my T43p (2668Q2U)..

but only when running on battery..
fan would run at high speed with a regular pause much like you describe..

the fan utility seems to have changed this behaviour..

YMMV..

if it were me i would want an exchange for a similar model..
not neccessarily an express model..

Mine does the same thing, but only on battery and it is very faint. Also, I noticed it started RIGHT after the bios & controller update a couple weeks ago.
