T43 typing problems
T43 typing problems
If I type some text on my T43, random letters get dropped, leaving me with rubbish. The problem is almost always there, but at times is much worse than at others.
I've tried reducing the startup items to a minimum, but this has not solved the problem.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Any ideas?

Huh, that's a new one. If that happens on every application from Word to Firefox, then that would seem to suggest that there is a problem with the Keyboard; but what does this have to do with startup services and apps?

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

If it is a general thing then I wouldn't rule out a virus og practical joke application running in the background. Not all viruses are designed to wipe your harddisk drive - some are just annoying as H*ll.
If you have already checked your computer viruses then I'm with Cristopher on the keyboard being the likely culprit. Maybe the connector isn't fastened securely in the socket. I've replaced a couple of laptop keyboards and it can actually be a bit tricky to get it locked properly in place.

I think we need some more information on what is happening here. How often does it happen? Does it occur more frequently with certain key combinations than others? Are your speakers on and do they beep when this happens? I ask becuase the "keyboard beep" problem may be related - depending on how you type, depressing certain combinations of keys together may result in a letter getting dropped (if you type "oun" in quick succession). But this usually only happens for fast typists, and I wouldn't consider the entire output garbage.
The problem is likely to be your keyboard, but without a more descriptive understanding of what you're experiencing, it's hard to say.

Typing problems
Thanks for your help.
It does not seem to be combination dependent and the speaker are not beeping.
It's worse sometimes than at others, but is always there to some extent. I thought perhaps something inthe background was plooing and hogging the processor, but I've disabled a lot of stuff using msconfigand problem has not gone away.

Have you tried attaching an external keyboard to test if the problem is isolated to the built-in one?
