A new 9 cell battery and keyboard is on it's way. No problem at all.

FYI, IBM said the unit is under warranty until 4/2008 with on-site support.

I think this may be changed to the 3 months that is should be as they update their sales records, but, for now, 2+ more years of support is just fine.

The dialogue went like this;

"I just received my certified used laptop. I was very specific with the telphone order taker and she confirmed that the battery would be fresh and any worn parts would be replaced, as this was not one of the units listed as 'slightly imperfect'. The battery only holds half a charge and the keyboard shows signs of wear. I know I have a 30 day return option, but I really love the laptop and it works great. If you could swap out the battery and keyboard I would be a satisfied customer."

The guy said no problem and I should have the parts in one or two business days.

I was completely truthful and the result seems reasonable to me!!! :D

Hmmm, it sounds like you may need to re-calibrate the battery. How fast is "a few minutes?" :)

I just got mine from this deal. Top case is really scratched up, battery has 245 cycles on it :/ I emailed IBM about it, now I'll see how it goes.

New keyboard and new 9 cell battery (improved 7.2 AH version - not 6.6 AH) arrived.

T41p is now mint.

Another satisfying certified used purchase.

Called them up, they won't do anything about it. They did replace the keyboard which had a non-functional space bar. Not sure if I should return it or not.

So they won't replace your battery but they replaced one for another customer? That stinks. As for the scratches on the top, it's a personal preference thing to return it or not because of that, however it sounds like the one you received should've been sold in a "slightly imperfect" sale as it is blemished.
