dockII/DVI-1680x1050

#1 Post by ddutta » Thu Dec 22, 2005 5:45 pm

I have a Dell 2005FPW 1680x1050 LCD. Will the dock II or port replicator II support this resolution on teh DVI port?

1600x1200 is definitely possible...

I've never attempted to run the resolution you specify, but my Dell 2001FP works fine at 1600x1200 when connected to DVI through my Port Replicator II (74P6733).
I'm using the standard ATI driver and the Mobility Modder (http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/).

The story is, if the video on the laptop supports it, the Dock does. So if that's a res and color depth that the Thinkpad video will do, the Dock ought to. Of course, such bold assurances can be victim to unexpected things like, the video card doesn't do precisely that.

For instance, my ATI Radeon x300, using the ATI drivers, only offers 1600x1200. You might have to use the highly touted Omega third-party drivers to do it, which are in several ways better than ATI's.

Yesterday, I plugged my friend's 2005FPW using the VGA connection just too see the quality, and my FireGL T2 does support 1680x1050 natively. Once I plugged in the monitor, the resolution showed up in the display properties. My guess is that using a dock/dvi will work no problem.

I'm using the latest IBM drivers.

Oh, duh. I forgot, Plug and play monitor. I was just looking in my display properties with NO external monitor attached.
