CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive Noise

#1 Post by Domain » Sat Dec 24, 2005 9:22 pm

Whenever I play a DVD, I seem to hear this noise intermittently every few seconds...almost sounds like a faint car horn. Fades in, fades out. If I take the DVD out, it stops. I toggled the speeds to no avail. Anyone else experiencing this? It's faint, but annoying me. Otherwise, this is a great machine.

Not quite sure, however. The poster there says it happens regardless to whether there is media in the drive.

Oh, and Merry Christmas. :)

In the power manager, you can choose advance, set the CDROM to quiet mode (not normal mode). This will help make the noise lower.

I'm just wondering if this is a common thing, though. Speed settings don't seem to help all that much.
