H there….
I am in the market to buy a T-43….
I just have 2 questions….
1. Is the fan noise really loud and frequent enough to bother the hell out of a person?
2. Does it vary between 14.1” and 15” platforms??
All feed back will be greatly appreciated.

Loud enough to bother the hell out of a person? No...that still depends, however, on personal preference to some extent. There is a link to the Fan Control Utility thread in my sig; it can be used to control the fan behaivor if one should so choose. The "fan always on" problem is present in quite a few Thinkpads, it varies on each. As such, though, the fan behavior on the T43 is slightly different from a T42...But close enough to be only barely noticible.

As far as I have seen, the fan doesn't change behavior from 14.1" to 15" models; there is one in the Lab over here that I have compared it to. There is no difference that I can pick up on. HTH
