T43 completely dead

#1 Post by ArtySin » Thu Dec 29, 2005 2:23 pm

Just got home from work and switched on my 3week old T43 and it's dead as a dodo. The support line is now shut until tomorrow but I really need to access it tonight. Tried searching the net but no luck. I put the machine into standby earlier but the moon 'standby mode' light is not on. Is there some key combination or something to get it going or something? The only thing is that the battery light flashes on off and back on again about every3secs. I've presumed that it is because the battery is fully charged as I have the power plugged in. Also, I've tried holding down the power button and the Access IBM button for more than 10secs but that does nothing at all nor does the normal 'get it out of standby mode' keys do anything. Any advice appreciated.
Cheers

If the moon is blinking on and off, orange, I believe that's the "i ran out of juice entirely" indication. Have you plugged it in?

A more straightforward test: remove all the batteries (usually one), count to 10, insert the battery(ies), plug it in, then press the power button for 1 second. What happens?

FWIW, I don't know ANY laptops that will stay in suspend mode indefinitely. If you plan to leave it for > 3-4 hours untouched, use hibernation instead. Just my suggestion.... ,:)
