What is the best way to pro-long/maximize the battery life of a T43?

http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo.htm

This is a great resource of information. There is some information also in the documentation that came with your machine, however, I've read in the documentation you should deep discharge the battery even if it is a Li Ion. But there is information from other sources that say this is bad for that type of battery, I have chosen not to deep discharge just let it run out to about %3 then charge it.

Click HERE for Lenovo's article on maximizing battery life. I also believe there are some tips that can be found within the maximizer application.

I too have read that deep cycling LI batteries is not good for them, and have read where IBM tells you do do just that (I believe in the tips I mentioned, it says once a month). It seems to me I read it is far less damaging on an LI battery to discharge it 10% 10 times than it is to discharge it 100% once. I wonder if IBM doesn't know what they speak of, want more revenue, or truly know about the products designed for their machines.

I thought that it might be that since some machines used nicad and some Liion, they did not update the manual that comes with the thinkpad with the newer type battery. My T42 manual in the access IBM manual does explain about deep discharge, then I read somewhere else that is bad so I rarely do it anymore. I really try to just use the AC adapter as much as possible.
