T43 Wireless System Tray Icon gone

#1 Post by pjcrumpg » Thu Jan 05, 2006 6:35 pm

I just got a T43 2687 D4U....
everything was fine but something happened (I dunno what) and all of a sudden I cant see that wireless status icon in the system tray (you know the one that shows which network you are connected to and what the signal strength is).
An anyone tell me which program is responsible for that icon?
Thx in adv.

IBM Access Connections; that is the Program that brings up that little icon. Have you checked to see if it is installed by looking throught the software installer? :)

Open Access Connections, go to Configure > Global Settings... > Notification. Is the box checked for: "Show wireless status icon in task tray"?

The above is for Access Connections 4.0x. If you have 3.xx, you'll have to look in the menu system. If the box is checked but you still have no icon, then you probably have to uninstall, then reinstall Access Connections (assuming you don't have a wireless driver problem or a hardware problem).

Gom Jabbar is on the mark; my suggestions were for 3.8. As far as I have seen, 4.0 isn't in the Software Installer "Auto-update" list yet. You will have to get it from the download site. :)

You are not connected to the network either through the ethernet port or the wireless connection.
