#1 Post by Ashiaveli » Fri Jan 06, 2006 10:25 am

for the last few days, when my t42 is in the dock it uses the battery regardless if the ac is plugged in. when i take it out of the dock and connect the ac, it uses it. im not sure what to do, help!

Which dock?

Have you checked with a multimeter that there is actually power on the DC plug from the AC adapter running the dock?

Cheers,

it seems that when it reaches the 96% threshold, it starts to discharge. maybe recalibrating i dunno. i checked battery heatlh and its green, "good".

edit: its a port replicator II

Battery problem in port replicator

Sure that the laptop is seated properly in the PR?

It may need an extra firm push to be seated !

Does your laptop work without a battery while it is plugged in to the port replicator (or is it a dock)? I am assuming from your previous post that you are using the same AC adapter with the laptop as you are with the port replicator (or dock). BTW, there should be a model number and probably a name on the underside of the port replicator (or dock).

I would suspect you have a bad AC jack on the port replicator or a bent or broken pin, or possibly dirty contact on the port replicator or ThinkPad connection.

ok i think i found out what the problem was.

i have a monitor stand whcih i have my port replicator on and i dock my laptop into that. I have it on a monitor stand to raise the screen. anyways i think the laptop wasnt supported well enough and was leaning forward a bit so that contact wasnt being made fully. fixed now.

thx guys.
